CLF is launching the Rebuild & Reimagine Fund to help Jamaica, Haiti and islands across the Caribbean rebuild after the devastating effects of Hurricane Melissa and build more holistic, long-term regional crisis preparedness.
The Fund is prioritizing efforts across three critical areas:
Solar-Powered Mobile Clinic:
CLF helped launch the first solar-powered mobile clinic in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to serve rural communities experiencing care gaps after disasters. We aim to build a fleet of mobile clinics strategically located across the Caribbean to respond rapidly to post-disaster and surge needs.
Clean water access is vital following a disaster, preventing disease outbreaks like cholera. We are supporting off-grid systems that produce pure drinking water in compostable, plant-based bottles - tackling both plastic waste and water scarcity.
School Reconstruction:
We will support public school re-construction in areas that have sustained damage due to hurricane Melissa or other recent disasters. Resilient construction will enable schools to act as category-5 resistant community shelters, building lasting infrastructure and resilience.
